AURAL and ORAL
English 101 has created many chances for students to practice aural and oral skills. For example, group reportage and in-class discussions. Group reportage is an assignment that requires two students to cooperate. During the final presentation students will have the chance to display their work. My partner Wenda Xu and I were working on the topic Stream of Consciousness. For the final presentation, we talked about stream of consciousness with powerpoint. I was very nervous about this presentation when I was preparing it. Because I was not confident with my oral skills and I was shy to speak in front of so many people. However, I overcame my timidity by practicing in front of my friends and they helped me improve my pronunciation. Finally though I was still nervous during the presentation, I was able to express my ideas well and clearly. In-class discussion also helped me improve my oral skills. By participating the discussions, I became more brave to talk in front of others. Besides, in-class discussions also helped me with my aural skills because I have to listen to other students' ideas and then response to them.
